Jackson Hastings

Absolute lemon and prime dickhead. Roosters have been shipping him around since middle of last season and not a flicker of interest from anyone.
Did anyone here actually watch the guy play last year !! They basically lost every game where he was running the show.

Is there any possibility we could actually purchase or produce an actual hooker. Our options are now AK
Brown Hastings Gidinet and Cullen - none are natural hookers.its ridiculous. Have a look at sides who win premierships. They have specialists in their spine!

As for club culture are we putting together a bikie gang. We have lost all our leaders recently together with some quality humans off the field and replacing them with test cases.

Not sure where we are heading but if Jackson Hastings is seen as our long term 9 it can't.be good.

Yes he did have some issues at the Roosters. He was butting heads with Friend in which also carries a big dik on his head. Friend being the senior player at the Chooks you can see why it panned out the way it did. This is a great pick up for the club as he is a special player and needed and change. He will be our specialist 80min hooker that can defend well, has creativity, will give the halves great service, kicked goals at 83% for 2016 and will kick well in general play which we have also been missing at hooker. This is a massive upgrade imo and a big step forward for our club. Im actually enjoying our aggressive but smart recruitment strategy given our Stewart and Matai cash is still locked up. Yes there has been some tough calls to make but it needs to be done to make our club great again. Nothing gets done being the nice guy. Bozos getting it done addressing the issues needed! #excitingrebuild

I'm really torn on this signing. The kid can play, having Roosters in my family I've watched him play the last 2 years. Last year was a tough one, they planned for him to come in and play second fiddle to Pearce, and when Pearce went off the rails it was left to Hastings. It was just too much. he showed glimpses, but could never reproduce. The year before he was very good, but again it was as a fill in. He didn't have to do this week to week.

On the negative he does seem like a tool. His carry on at Killer reminded me of a certain Luke Keary and since I am totally biased towards Killer that really annoyed me.

I am prepared to do the old wait and see with him. But it's his attitude and commitment to the team I want to see, he has talent I don't need proof of that.

Yeah, stupid buggers, we should never have moved Toovey to hooker. What were they thinking.

Susan, this is not the end of the world, it is not a major $500k signing, it is a bargain gamble with no downside. He becomes a star or he is gone. To pick up a kid with a junior pedigree as follows, and still only 20 years old, for what I assume would be a reasonable sum is an excellent gamble.

Hastings carved up sides in junior footy.

You only have to look at his long list of representative honours: Junior Kangaroos (2015), NSW U20s (2015), NSW U18s (2013-14), Australian Schoolboys (2013), NSW U16s (2012).

But so far in his first grade career, he hasn’t lived up to the hype.

With the ability to play half and 5/8, kick goals in the mid 80%s .... I would be more than happy to see if he can make the transformation into a hooker.

Transforming him into a good bloke may be harder, but well worth the effort if he plays to his potential.

PS, apart from Farah I don't know of any top draw hookers who were available.

Remember the rumours that we had signed someone, but couldn't register it until someone else got offloaded? And the person signed was getting antsy about his future? We all thought it was Penrith outside backs.

But I bet it was Hastings in hindsight, and that explains why saints couldn't land his signature.

I don't get it.
Manly sacks Liam Knight for reasons unconnected to his footballing ability, and continues to sign blokes who have similar off-field discipline issues. I give you Hoppa, Meehan and now Hastings.
Then, I read that they might play him at hooker, where Parcell should be!
Our 2017 team is mainly going to comprise off-casts from other clubs. They couldn't make it with our opposition yet somehow we think they will be good for us.
Yet another reason to withhold my membership for the first time in a decade. That doesn't mean I won't support Manly, which I've been doing for 55 years, but I'm just not feeling the blokes in charge have a plan.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't one of the reasons given by the Penns for bringing Fulton in was because they didn't like the direction the club was heading in with signing other clubs rejects?I suspect Fulton has had a red hot go at signing some guns but no one wanted to come,so in desperation he's signed off casts

I think the big picture is to sign cheap potentials and then over 2018 2019 splash some big cash
Dunno because a lot of these guys are signed to 18/19 so if they come off they'll command bigger bucks. Who then replaces them? I kind of think they're working in the background to retire Matai and Stewart and get someone now.

He's 20 and has played at every junior rep level there is, so I think the talent is there. Even Gus Gould said this was a great move.

I've got a feeling your last name might be Parcell @;)

Gus??

That was like when Wally Lewis kept saying NSW need to pick Soward.

Its a great move because it will most likely lead to failure.

That he partnered Jack Bird in the 20's can't hurt either. Especially with us needing a centre and having dollars next year when he's off contract.
