Jamie did ask for a release. David May has confirmed it. Manly didnt approve of his release. Jamie's agent agreed to the offer that the Titans had tabled him. Jamie agreed verbally BUT Manly will not release him. Thats it i guess.

Why are the titans approaching players under contract to another club and inducing them break their contract.

If the independant commision actually ran the game properly the titans would be heavily fined.

If they were heavily fined they probably wouldn't be around anymore.

Give David May a break. He is trying to do what the last administration didnt do which is to care for the fans. He is trying to make up for the times where Titans Fans like me felt like the club didnt care about the fans.

This is the Prince saga all over again

Give him a break? Are you serious? The guy is a tool admitting to inducing a player to breach his contract and then letting out hints about a possible signing on a public forum. Double tosser.

If the board of the tits had any clue they'd sack the jerk.

But a CEO should never post on forums a no no in digital media. We dodged a bullet I see, success breeds envy and vultures, after 2011 I was happy to see the halfs on long term deals we can build future around them.

David May doesn't strike me as very professional. Very apt that he occupies the twitterverse.

On a more serious note TF, I think Kenny (F-ckin) Powers, if he switched to league from baseball, would fit right in on the Gold Coast.

After all, it is the premier 'Redneck Riviera' in this Great Brown Land of ours.

hey Titans "you're F**king out".

Here's another gem from their CEO:

My guide to reading media reports is to look for direct quotes from a person involved in a story.

I hope that doesn't sound too obvious, but my experience is that lots of stories get stretched and conjecture added. You won't be able to find a direct quote anywhere from anyone involved saying it was a four year deal.

----------------------------------------------------------------

According to the media release it was a direct quote from Lyon.

Is he implying it wasn't a 4 year deal?

David May is a fool and is now trying to cover his arse.

Refer: http://www.rugbyleague.com.au/nrl/nrl_code_of_conduct.pdf

Sanctity of Contracts

30. Every Club and person bound by this Code must not do anything that might induce the breach of an NRL Playing Contract, an NRL Short Form Contract or a Playing Agreement.
It's not a breach of contract if agreed by the parties.

So it's written in words then, what are the all or the mysterious commission gonna do about it?
Nothing.
Obviously that is why the Titans approached Manly first, so they would not be in breach of this rule.

Trouble is that scenario doesnt make sense to me. Why would Manly agree to another club commencing negotiations with our club captain and star player who is 1) already under contract to us 2) we really cant do without in 2013 and 3) who we had no intention of releasing (as evidenced today) ?
Because the club likes Jamie and appreciates what he has done for us. Therefore, go ahead and see if you can set yourself up for life, we aren't saying we'll just let you go but we won't stop you seeing what's out there. So see what they are offering and get back to us.
All sounds reasonable to me – except for the Titans desperate bid to get mileage out of something that was never a done deal, and was probably never likely to be.

I think you are right on all those points SER8.

It was only a story because the Titans camp got over-excited. If the Titans were professional the whole thing would have been kept confidential.

Rothfield just tweeted -

"Just a thought - Should Manly release Jamie Lyon (turns 31 next week) and use the cash to get Will Hopoate back? "

Obviously trolls league forums for his thoughts and sources

Looks like the Titans, as desperate as they are, have contacted Manly and asked if they could table Jamie's manager an offer. Manly has said yeah good luck we wont be releasing him but give it a try. Manager has gone to Jamie who has laughed and gone thanks but no thanks.End of story once again Rothtool has goosed himself and the DT has exhibited their normal level of journalistic integrity......NONE.

One of your best posts EVER mick. Love it. Hope you are 100% right.

Forget all the denials, Jamie Lyon will be a Titan by the end of next week.

This just tweeted by James Phelps

What a f***wit. The Titans CEO himself is resigned to missing out on signing him.
