In fact, when Delmege and co. were threatenning to oust Mayer, Quantum made the \"out there\" statement, that they would not renew, should he be gone.

Funnily enough, they held to that.

And instead lobbed in a chunk of money to buy out Max and take equity rather than sponsorship...

Yes, your point is? I'd also question your "take equity" suggestion. Maybe a re-word would be a good idea :)

Fact is, Mayer attained major sponsors. He (and his team) gained the club corporate partners like Mack Trucks, Quantum etc.

Now, I want it be known that I am VERY impressed with the partnership Lowey has attained with Centerbet. I am VERY impressed Lowey has agreed on the "building from within" policy I'm sure Crusher and Des have very intelligently suggested. I am VERY impressed that funds are currently being used to upgrade our great home ground. I am VERYT impressed Lowey is seeking alternative revenue streams (double headers / games in PNG etc). I am kind of impressed that memberships have become more affordable (not so impressed the cost of that is additional home games are being taken away).

There are many positives as well Vidmar. That being said, nobody's perfect, and as much as you tow the party line these days, the club can improve in a number of areas, such as:-

1) Public relations, public relations, public relations (goodwill)
2) Marketing
3) Corporate Partner acquistion
4) P&L and Balance Sheet management (just a guess here)
5) Media Relations

For mine, the club has deteriorated in one of the most important elements that makes clubs great. In my mind, that is about making fans feel like they are part of the family. Since Lowey has come on board, and again, this might be just me, but the divide between the fans / club is greater than I have seen in years. Fans don't have affinity with the club, because it looks as though the club itself is lost. Lacks website management. Lacks information. Lacks media presence. Etc, etc, etc...

These area's could be addressed with a young, innovative, positive, energetic CEO. It is what we currently don't have. I'm sorry.

Again, though - there ARE positives at the same time. I just guess priorities for the club are what they are, regardless of what is right and/or wrong.

If our sponsorship problems are bad, at least it could be worse. Look who the Souths signed as a sponsor, Star Casino.

I guess that was a gamble they were willing to take though....

Bad, I know :(

Souths and Star expose the Crowe as a real hypocrite.  I disagree with your assertion Ryan that fans of Manly are feeling let down by the club.  I for one aren't a member because of the website.  I, and I'd assert that most members don't bother ever to go to the official website.  I just don't think it's on the register of member interest.  The fans are interested in having a team to follow and seeing a competitive team on the paddock.  Sure every club can improve their relations with fans, but really mate, to kick the Lowe/Meyer can with every post is tedious.

Knights are losing Energy Australia as a sponsor at the end of this year. That was a 10 year big dollar contract. No doubt that RL has been tarnished in many corporate eyes and is a big risk to their brands.

The NSW origin team can't even get a sponsor.

The difference is that Manly are winners :)
[/quote]

We were winners in 2008 and as I recall Mayer said before the GF that Manly needed a new sponsor for 2009 and beyond. Since the GF win the club has copped a lot of bad publicity and imo sponsors didn't want anything to do with the Manly brand.

Don't forget we've also had the GFC which has hurt a lot of companies who are now cash strapped i.e Delmege. Plenty on companies are feeling the pinch.

Thanks for the free kick Matas.  I for one don't defend any 'administration' with every post.  However as I said, to continue to dribble on about the past is tedious.  It won't come back and so one must live with what is and try to make the best of it.  Crying into your milk wont help.  The current situation won't last forever, and then we can all be happy.  Just try to be a bit more positive.

DSM5,

Might be worth sticking to gossip on the other post subjects. It seems you are well out of your league here.
