We missed the 8 the coach should be done!
Manly finished 9th in defence, 8th in attack, won 12 games

Compare last year in 7th in defence, 5th in attack, won 13 plus a draw.

So went backwards a bit by all measures.

Though to be fair we had a significantly worse run with injuries than last year. Plus certain other problems, notably, captain publicly abandoning ship when the season had scarcely started)

So they really didn’t improve and I suspect that’ll be the case as long as they continue with Seibold

Given that Harvard sees a 50% year as normally a success, then let's all go out and have champagne to celebrate!

He can't get players to buy in , didn't at his previous clubs and again here. It's not a personal thing just how it is , if the club wants results and a great culture it starts at the top. He has to go , failed real bad with no accountability to the leader of the Pride fiasco and then the Schuster extension was a joke. Rookie errors in man management at any workplace.

Yet the Spoonbold apologists say nothing to see. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

DCE leaves Manly after being here for his whole career because of Seibold.

Ennis thumbs his nose at Seibold to go work for Flanagan. Probably why he came here in the first place.

Now Turbo wants out!!

Just get rid of this cancer.

Our season was terminal after round 3. Massive win against Canberra offset by season ending Paskea injury and our captain announcing him leaving the club and the rest of us dangling why it played out. We were not a serious threat after that to make a run at the premiership!

Absolutely, I hear you! The last three weeks have been a proper statement given the injuries and gaps in the forward pack. Winning with Lodge, Simpkin, TKO, Waddell, Burbo, and Tevaga at the start would’ve seemed a stretch to anyone—so credit where it’s due.

We all thought we had a top-4 roster last year, and this year. The positive thing is that even if we miss the finals again—or just scrape in limping—our juniors are thriving. Depth has been our saving grace—look how well the juniors went! Hopefully we keep developing a strong junior base. While it’s easy to bag whoever, the fact we’re still competing in style says a lot about the squad.

I’m really hoping our coach can make Lodge captain like he did at the Broncos and bring him into the top 30 for next year—or even add him to a development deal like Woods had—it’ll be great to see what he can do with a full pre-season and not starting the season odd training with cup.

Excited to see the mix of youth stepping up and key upgrades coming through. Names like Willett, Kioa, Feledy, Lawry, Walsh, Laiafi, Sykes, Mafoa, Patolo, Hart, Paulo, Muagututia, etc. could really take us to the next level. Dunford is gone, so it’ll be interesting to see who fills that gap.

But hey, Klemmer will be a great pick-up—he fits the classic Manly Cove DNA perfectly!

Knowing our luck, roster management will be just as ‘creative’ next year… so I’ll be keeping my seatbelt on for another wild ride!

Here’s to 2026—bring it on!
We won 3 games when it didn't matter against sides with basically nothing to play for also, including the warriors who could not improve their position. We played the Roosters at home and Tigers when it DID matter and....

Manly chair Scott Penn says he’s going nowhere — and either is coach Anthony Seibold

Scott Penn has hit back at suggestions of dissension in the ranks at Manly and declared coach Anthony Seibold is going nowhere and will lead the club in 2026.

Manly chair Scott Penn wants to clear the air once and for all – Anthony Seibold will be the Sea Eagles coach next season. Seibold is going nowhere.Nor, for that matter, is Penn amid ongoing speculation that he could sell the club.

First things first though. Manly are licking their wounds after narrowly missing the finals and Seibold has had to endure speculation over his position for weeks.

There has been talk of dissension within the club and suggestions that external forces are driving a campaign to destabilise his position.

It won’t work if Penn, who is also the club’s majority shareholder, has his way.

Penn already came out and publicly backed the coach a few weeks ago but he felt the need to do it again on Thursday, insisting that Seibold was the right man to deliver the club a premiership.

“I really just want to clear the air on Seibs — he’s got another couple of years to go and we’re right behind him,” Penn said.

“What I’ve seen from his history is he’s got the talent to win a premiership. No question, no question. What I’m asking of him is to back himself and do it.

“That’s easier said than done but he’s got the ability to. Being in business you back people. You can’t do it all yourself. You have to back people.

“I see a character that has the potential to win a comp. He’s incredibly technically strong. He’s an ex-school teacher so he understands how to communicate with people.

“He’s got really good structures and systems in place. For ’26 and beyond, what he’s going to be working on is how he can really bring the best out of himself and the playing group.

“That’s the X factor. Players play for the coach. So it’s really important that that connection just continues to evolve.”

The Sea Eagles have a decisive pre-season ahead of them. Daly Cherry-Evans is gone. Jake and Tom Trbojevic – the heart and soul of the club – are locked in talks over their respective futures. Canberra half Jamal Fogarty and Brisbane lock Kobe Hetherington are among those who will join a club that has shown the ability to beat the best in the business on their day, but lose to the stragglers when they are off their game.

Inconsistency has been their bugbear and the expectation is that they will improve next season.

“I think the thing is there’s rumours around his future and I just want to shut him down because he’s here to stay,” Penn said. “There’s no issue at board level with Seibs. No one’s pushing agendas for other coaches. We’ve backed Seibs. We will continue to back Seibs. So there’s no issue there.“We believe in the systems that he’s put in place. We have been inconsistent this year and there’s a variety of reasons for that. There have been murmurs of discontent after Manly missed the top eight.
“We’re still doing end of season reviews at the moment. But there’s open conversations around why that’s happened, what we’re going to do to improve next year.“We just got to be better.”

As for his own future at the helm of the organisation, Penn said he had no plans to sell out despite interest from elsewhere. “We can shut that down as well,” Penn said. “I mean every year we get one or two people who knock on the door and go, ‘would this be something you’d be interested in?’“I think we’ve had one conversation with one group this year and it hasn’t gone any further. It’s like if someone knocks on your door of your house and says you would you sell? “Do you stand there and have a conversation or just slam the door? We chose to have a conversation and then pretty quickly realised that it wasn’t the right conversation and we didn’t want to proceed any further. “So it’s as simple as that.”
