As much as I agree Roberts is not the best defender, that doesn't excuse Tom's poor defensive read there. He had to stay on his man and trust Roberts to make the tackle.

Absolutely didn’t trust him, and with good reason, Roberts can’t defend for ****.

Hopefully Tommy has learned from that one - stay out on your wing and let Roberts take the heat for his own dud defence next time.

That was a fair penalty, even if they haven’t been given in the past. Not the smartest move by Mitchell and Addo-Carr there.

Look, we are all one-eyed Manly fans here but I'm not going to make excuses for that play by Tom. It was a poor decision regardless of whether we think Roberts would have been beaten or not. He has to trust Roberts otherwise there is no point playing out there on the wing.

Disagree. His momentum was never halted. Geez, we watch Gordy drag a player halfway across the field into touch and celebrate it as an iconic SOO moment. Penalising that was wrong in terms of the momentum rule and precedent, IMO.

Sure it was the wrong decision, but you can’t blame him for not trusting Roberts. It’s more a matter of screw Roberts, if he can’t make his tackles let him wear it.
