When I raised this point of concern of too much money invested in one player a lot of posters were bagging me, saying Turbo will come good and he needs to be on the field as much as possible, even if he's on one leg.

If you could buy an available fullback for rest of the season rather than use Garrick you would be looking at Dane Laurie, Charlie Staines, possibly CKN if you offered 2 year deal, maybe Lachlan Miller.
