Stand down tonight Trent.

Barrett's goooone.... he's benn dealt a bad hand this year but something has to give and history tells us that the coach is usually that something...

I think the Penns have shown they don't want to lay out more money so they aren't pushing Barrett...they are hoping he will leave of his own accord, that way they don't have to pay his contract out.. This season is lost so nothing more can be gained by sacking him now. I suspect he's on the way out but not until season's end, or if he decides to walk early. Maybe we'll hear of one of those 'mutual agreement' statements soon..

Time for my first post as we are in desperate times.

I believe Manly have five of the best players in there positions in the competition. Tom Trebjovic, Jake Trbojevic, Dylan Walker, DCE and Martin Taupau are world class players and would make any team in the competition.
We also have a group of competent second tier players Sironen, Thompson, Api, Tafua, Kelly.

Question is why is Manly so poor? I believe it’s the coaching. Trent appears to be a good guy and Phil Gould believes has potential to be a great coach. Unfortunately I can not see it.

In my opinion Manly need to get Des Hasler. The current situation reminds me of when Des took over from Peter Sharp. The team had no Manly culture, no passion and heavy losses. Des restored Manly culture and toughness into the team.
The current Manly team has the ability we just need a new coaching direction and a few players who are tough 80 minutes players.

To be fair, tonight we had:

02. Jorge Taufua
04. Dylan Walker
05. Akuila Uate
06. Lachlan Croker
09. Apisai Koroisou
12. Curtis Sironen

14. Darcy Lussick
15. Nate Myles
16. Kelepi Tanginoa
17. Jack Gosiewski

all unavailable from our starting squad at the start of the year. We also then had:

Lloyd Perrett
Lewis Brown

Not picked as they played NSW Cup

Yes a lot of players missing but defensively today was a joke !! We don't look well trained at all no shape in attack and we never look dangerous with the ball ! Defensively the team looked lost and disinterested today ! I really wonder what Trent and the coaching staff did during preseason and what they do during the week cause I see no structure or set plays at all !

No Ryan, no offense dude but no

Toovey had a similar injury list in his last year and came ninth, his previous record included a robbed premiership, a week 3 loss and an out in straight set/s? Result

If a bloke whose bled for this club probably as many times as he's woken up this wank pheasant with a **** haircut must just **** off

These fat cucks, our beloved owners called it a results driven business, what results are we ****ing chasing you fat peasants

Sell the club Penns. It's now embarrassing to watch the once proud club reduced to such a rabble. Again this weekend we lost all three grades.
Watching the lower grades it's full of big Polynesians who are weightlifters/bodybuilders - not footballers. They just try to run over people, and it rarely works. Our top side is too slow; they look great in the gym but they aren't skillful enough, and their 'motors' don't match their chassis.
Where are the gifted ball players Manly was famous for? Where are the speedsters, the side-steppers, the blokes who could play tough for 80 minutes even when their opposition looked bigger?

Spot on mate!

Bring in a new coach to do what with these players.
Agree.
I don't think TB is the right man to bring the Sea Eagles back from this dismal state of affairs but I'm unsure any other coach could have made the team we fielded today perform any better. Those two teams were like comparing a cold cup of nescafe to a fancy barista-made latte with caramel syrup.
Our lack of talent was so glaringly obvious. Suli and T.Wright on the wing were a disaster. The little kid playing hooker was just smashed.
The thing that saddened me the most was the obvious defeated mindset by most of the team. They just let the rorters run riot and just seemed to give up. A try isn't scored until the ball in on the ground and Manly just didn't challenge. I thought the team was pathetic in attitude and ability today and it comes down to those men wearing the jerseys, even if they're just boys.

Exactly , with the same players even Bellamy couldn’t get them performing much better.

We’ve just got a largely **** roster

It was the lack of trying that hurt the most.

If your team is busting their arses , and getting done by a superstar opposition you can be proud.

Those players , or many of them at least , weren’t trying!!

Other than that, are you happy with the direction we’re going in?

Welcome on board Hoppa !!! That was a great and direct first post
I dont think that Des will coach us due to circumstances but I agree we need an experienced hard line coach

Don’t know about that! If Manly lose sponsors because of poor performance you can bet the coach will go!

I think Barrett is contracted to Manly until 2020. If so that's a lot of money the Pennes will have to splash out as compensation if they sack him. If Barrett leaves at years end and Manly secure someone of worth to coach them, the sponsors will be back in droves.
