Interested to see if Burbo bulks up even more during the off season to try break more tackles. I noticed he that tends to try and run around players instead hitting a gap. That game where Shu put him thru to win the match being the exception that certainly stands out.
Think that it is pretty much accepted that Burbo did improve his overall game involvement this season and better able to get into a normal match grind .
Just a couple of areas and mainly at times a better tackling technique to try and get better but definitely has the size and mobility to contribute well to the current Manly pack lineup
Nothing wrong with a bit of a swerve or late step away occasionally to try and gain a bit more attacking advantage but trying to get between defenders with a bit of direct running still obviously the best approach .
Again Burbo does have a bit going for him in the pace and natural attacking ability area , particularly if he can find those slightly wider good running lines at the right times

I may be wrong. But would think gor the type of money Angus may command we'd need an on and off field leader. Someone whose mental strength and determination can rub off on your mob. Having said that USwapping Angus for
That extra prop style lock is one of the things I'd love to see Seibold scrap. As a team we are so slow and not throwing enough at teams in so many ways. Jake as much as he defends great. At lock he's just slow by both ball and foot. If he was fit Lawton could be the man. If.
Wasn "t so bad when Dylan Walker could come on for big minutes and moving Jake to prop and give the side a bit of a boost and variation playing in that roving 13 type role .
Was quite obvious or should have been that the two most problematic positions at season 's start were the 6 and 13 roles and think that apart from the injury setbacks , a lack of overall effectiveness in those positions set Manly 's cause back quite a bit .
Jake still putting in his usual wholehearted and great efforts but with also his accepted limitations at 13 .
Good expectations that Brookes may be able to rectify the 6 issue but of course would be excellent and really crucial in many ways to have someone available to manage an equally positive outcome at 13 .
Lawton when fit can be a good competitor but often his pass selection and reads in attack are quite ordinary and most likely one of the least suited 13 options on past indications , Bully for the foreseeable future looks to be best suited as a very mobile type prop ,
Really need to get a solution. at 13 A S A P. , like a Tom Gilbert type player .
Dolphins certainly got lucky there and as a previous fringe type backrower , . Could be a similar type player out there still , about time Manly had some luck in that department .
In the here and now apart from Jake at 13 can only suggest again Alioia or Matterson or a converted Yeo type player . Can Tommy Talau tackle , apparently can attack a bit but probably not even a good out of left field suggestion .

Tommy Talau miss tackles was 29 from 12 games. 78% tackle success.
Jake Arthur to bulk and might be a option at lock. His stats are 188cm and 82kg.

Yeah forgot that consideration , bit light at 82 kg but not bad with a bit of deceptive running close to the line , good work ethic and capable passing game with his halves experience .
Not real comfortable with or noticing him dropping off the occasional tackle , probably would depend on his getting a bit more size and strength to improve a bit there ,and would presume that his tackling technique is generally up to par .
Can even kick a bit , recall Siebold mentioning some time ago that he could have some prospect as a future 13 , so ideally if he can bulk up a bit , could be worth a go there in the trials .
Would be a long shot converting an outside back and one with not perhaps giving the best indications in wanting to knuckle down to a quite vigorous 13 type role .
Never know but from your indication there , definitely a more then out of left field suggestion mentioning Tommy Talau

Assuming this list is accurate we are short of props it will only get worse if Keppie goes without a like player in return.

Lodge would fill one spot but I can see Woods getting a start next season based on this
Yep, Lodge may not be available until 2 mths into the comp. If it's a 9mth rehab looking at the start of May, which would be wishful thinking on my part.

A mate (reliable source) said he saw Zac Lomax and Seibold having lunch in the CBD last week.

Maybe something for 2025?

A
If we could have him and get the best out of him, that would certainly solve the centres!
Agreed. A focused Lomax is a great proposition.

I'd say there is no downside for either party to have chats. It gives the player leverage, and the club can gauge also interest. So maybe there is nothing to it.

But my source says it was definitely those two having lunch, so interesting.

Id be looking towards the Roosters.

Terrell May off contract Nov 1 and will be a star. Worth playing the waiting game.

Also Nafahu Whyte off Nov 1, if we can't get May, Whyte a good option and one we may be able to get an early release for.

Another option is Luki at the Cowboys. Mutual options for 25 meaning he can talk in Nov. Cowboys have a logjam of backrowers so with Luki's injury history they may be willing to part ways.
Injuries a risk but lord he is talented.

Really hard to get a handle on the current cap settings and also in relation to the cap increase coming into play next season ? , or the apparent 25% increase or so and the money now freed up with Tuilagi , Keppie and Weekes off the books now and not to take into account Sam and Latu Fainu .
No doubt a bit of an upgrade for Haumole and sure that Garrick's and Koula 's upgrades were not insignificant also . Tent , Saab and Froggy no doubt a bit more as well .
Would expect some more cap money available in the kitty but again , bit hard to ascertain what the cap situation is at present .

Terrell May was with blacktown workers so he might know some of the boys and want to come back.

Just give me a second rower who tackles for the full 80 minutes. With Jurbo as prop and Froggy as hooker I'd be happy if our pack became a defensive wall and we used our backs where we have a battalion of attacking weapons, as much as possible.
The affective pack perspective ...
A defensive wall pack is good but a pack that can pack a punch and also power up field is better

We want to strive to be dynamic across the field as much as possible
We want to be Relentless and leave our enemy Bruised and Breathless !
