Jackson Hastings

They'll be trying to sign segeyaro. Just negotiate the transfer fee. He wants to be in Aus, and would know the difficulty, so advantage us.

1. Api is a specialist premiership winning hooker
2. You are not Hastings agent and you cant say no team wanted Hastings . As far as I know Hasting did have a choice and chose the mighty Sea eagles
Bring on 2017 . Go the mighty Sea eagles !!!

If you think Api Korisau is a specialist first choice hooker that time has proved is essential to success you are delusional.

I am friends with 2 leading player agents. He was about to play park football.

I've seen him play almost every first grade game for Roosters. Abject failure overall. If he is so impressive why was there not a single club in Aus or England interested until us in late December. Reason : good football skills, zero game awareness.

Overall I thought our recruiting has been very good for next year and was on record saying we would have a good year until this mess with Parcell has left us with not a single specialist hooker at the club- in a spine position it is proven year in year out is essential to winning premierships.

You can have all the good recruits you like but not having a single hooker can go a long way to ruining a lot of good work.Cant think of any team in history years who have not had a specialist 9 in a senior squad.

Your view of the need to have a top line hooker is 100% correct ... but only relevant now if you thought we would be seriously contending the title this year.

The fact that not even Bozo's namesake on this forum thinks that, I believe those running the show know that if in the next 6 months Api/Hastings/Lussick don't grow into the position, they will be moving to add a top notch hooker to the end of '17 shopping list.

I am on your side on this, and on the record saying that I didn't believe Parcell or Api were the answer. But keeping Parcell just because there were no "good" hookers on the market would have been senseless.

Api is a quality player and he has proven this by playing in starting NRL teams like Souths , Penrith and Manly . He played very well in Souths grand final win and also played man of the match games for us and Penrith . A player does not get man of the match honours if he does not have the ability .
Hastings chose to play with us and did not want to entertain the option of the English comp as he and his agent were both confident that he would get snapped up by a NRL club and they were vindicated

What a load of **** he was contracted to the roosters for 2017 and 2018 whether he was wanted or not, he was told he would be playing with wyong the roosters reserve grade side

Add to that Nathan Friend who played grand Final with Warriors,Lichaa played grand final with Dogs,Granville won grand final with Cowboys,it is not essential to have a brilliant hooker to be successful, but it can help if you have the other pieces of the puzzle....Ask the Tigers how helpful Farah has been to getting them to a Grand final

So Wyong ain't park football !! Yeah he was told that AND he was not in roosters plans long term. They would have released him if another mob paid his salary. No other NRL club wanted him.Simple as that.

What's your point champ. Being told you are not in long term plans and to head to Wyong is an endorsement of his playing ability!

I think Ennis might have helped Cronulla just a tad

???All of the above are long term specialist hookers playing in sides with big damaging forward packs. Granville is also a gun and Friend has a great pass and is a good organizer.
My point is we have basically no specialist hookersin an entire squad and our first choice hooker/utility can't pass. Good luck with that.

It was not about his playing ability that he was not wanted by the Roosters . It was about his attitude and his clash with the coach . This guy can play

Thanks Mr Penn, have the rest of the festive season off.

I agree and Ballin helped us and Cam Smith helped the Storm and Friend helped the Rooster, etc...I just don't believe you need a top class hooker to be successful
To prove your point Smokin Joe that a team does not need a world class hooker to be successful . South Sydney won a grand final with Api at no 9 who I agree he is not a world class hooker but is a competent one .

So now we need big damaging forward packs and not just a gun hooker? An average hooker can look ok behind a rampaging forward pack.Granville was a utility who played fullback and half before moving into 9,not exactly a long term specialist hooker.Friend was an average at best hooker and Lichaa is just a defender at the Dogs who will probably not get resigned.Look we all have our own opinions and I respect yours,I just have a different view and think we should give him a chance before condemning him.He had a fallout with coaches and teamates yes,but we told players that they were going to spend the year in Intrust, not because they couldn't play but because they didn't fit into our plans....and I would hardly call Intrust cup park footy.....

The moral of this Manly story is
What type of people condemn someone without giving them the opportunity to prove them selves ?
Answer is ..... The people with agendas

I have seen him play in the halves and thought that the only thing wrong with him is he doesn't take on the line,we let Parcell go supposedly because we don't want a running hooker.I think he will be a solid defender, kick well out of dummy half, even Sterlo thinks he has a good kicking game,I think he has a very good passing game and some vision and can continue to develop organizational skills as we have stated that we are viewing him in the long term.Do I think he will be a gun this year?Possibly not, but the people in charge are looking past 2017,maybe some of us here should too....

Hastings has all the attributes necessary to make an outstanding hooker including a ratty in your face attitude. Whether he makes the transition (IF called upon) only time will tell. Injuries will assure that we see him at centre/5/8/half/utility or hooker at some stage.

I am excited to see how it unfolds rather than condemn the exercise as a failure before it starts.

Joe, the only reference I have seen to "Barrett doesn't want a running hooker" was a tweet from some numbnut. Has this been verified or is it another negative myth that is entering Silvertails folklore as fact?

It seems a strange thing for any coach to say in the modern game.
