And today news out that QRL and NRL to shake hands on $100m deal, set to ramp up Queensland's plan for fifth NRL franchise and bolster grassroots. It's $25m a year to the QRL for Brisbane's western corridor' region. The state bodies have reached an agreement in principle, with the QRL poised to ink a bumper four-year deal that will inject mega millions into grassroots, development - and an expansion masterplan to bring another NRL team to Queensland. Ikin and Hatcher are acutely aware of the AFL threat. The new funding deal will allow the QRL to allocate funds to the region, with Dolphins super coach Wayne Bennett adamant Brisbane’s western corridor is ready for an NRL team.

Brisbane's western corridor' region is a rugby league region. Manly should be putting it to the NSWRL and NRL for a equal $25m a year deal for the north side of Sydney before it too is lost.

Not really clear how much North Sydney juniors will be in the Western Bears or how much of a partnership it is. Doesn't seem as much as a 50/50 thing. There are no Western Bears board members spaces allocated to Norths. Could end up like Illawarra's socks. Also sounds like the WA owners looking for a QRL club to link up with as well.

If the new NYC gets going, anyone on the northern side of Sydney can stay local and aim for the Manly team or even Parramatta or Wests Tigers, or go to Perth, but there won't be a NS Bears in the NYC.

Other than a want to do it, I can't see why Manly Sea Eagles can't have all of the north side of Sydney as their catchment for fans, sponsors and juniors and just ignore NSWRL boundaries as they don't matter at NRL level. Like the Green Bay Packers catchment is all of the towns and cities of Wisconsin.

Media in Perth today saying:

ensuring it remained a WA team from the very top down to the last-listed player’s bootlaces.

North Sydney Bears as the affiliate partner will be the feeder team into the NSW Cup, while the Bid Co is also in meaningful conversations with potential Queensland partners.

The Western Bears will appoint and fund four full-time employees at North Sydney Bears, including a general manager of football, head of high performance and two other football department staff.

There will be 11 of the 12 home games played at HBF Park, one trial game and one “home” game in Sydney, preferably at North Sydney Oval if it can meet requirements.

Losing last week to Wests killed us. Even a win today still killed us as Wests are ahead on for and against

I think you mean Reserve grade where Magpies are last.
Balmain are 8th in Flegg and have been in and around finals contention all season just like us.
Yep, my stuff up! However, Manly were ahead of the Tigpies in all grades before the games and they won the previous Flegg game in the season 50-30 against Balmain. They averaged over 40 points against them in the last 6 games, so something must have been amiss with injuries or whatever, however Flegg is like that with lots of big scores.

Disappointed to read that Carsen Patu from Flegg is moving on. Search up his highlights and he was an absolute beast. Not sure of the reasons why but not offered a position next year at the Eagles.

Simione Laiafi Played for the U19s Australian schoolboys team today from the bench, didn’t get himself involved in the first half but made a few good runs & solid hits after half time. Hard to get a good read on it as he didn’t get many minutes & played against a France team no where near their level. Full time score in the game was 56-6 if anyone was wondering.

Hey Joe, did you hear why we let Carsen go?
At the moment I am leaning towards stupidity....
The op on him leaving is based on his Instagram post about not having an NRL contract.
I am not ruling out that someone, even us,may offer him a train and trial contract still,he possibly may have jumped the gun and posted and is disappointed because nothing was sorted before the season was done.
I struggle to think he won't find something,on saying that,Mihinui and Mafoa have been ahead of him all season and were the ones promoted to Reggie's.
Maybe there is something else, maybe there are questions about training, attitude, effort etc...he hits hard in defense, but as we have seen with Keppie, that is not everything.

Most years a kid comes from no where. This year Hoppa takes the title. Seibs waited till he was primed.

Right now you'd think there has to be an opportunity on an edge? With a sport or 3 left.

But our 18 and plus kids and Ressies can all play post 30 June.

So if you had to make a call. Whose our most promising young kud on an edge?

I said he should be playing back row in Ressies to see how he goes a couple months back.
As fate would have it, the very next week he was there.

He may just need more time but from what I've seen he's currently only a middle.

But that it. Navale is the only one really coming through right now.

Fun fact Sammy Fainu is still eligible to play Flegg.

I don’t think we have a standout that has enough size about them, there is some decent young talent available and looking for a deal, Ethan Roberts is a good talent.

Konz and Hayley may develop with some time in NSW Cup.

I don't think any of our kids from juniors are going to play on the edge for NRL this year,(the club seems to have some hopes for Hayley)if you are looking for someone unexpected to emerge then there are possibilities.......
If the signing of Pua'Avase is true and he even gets a shot at NRL time next year then he could really surprise.
Everyone seems to rubbish Matterson and Chee Kam,but they could both handle playing Lawton's role.
Tevaga will probably play off the bench as a middle, but I would like to see if Seibold looks to give him a shot on the edge,Lawton came to us as a 9/13,not an edge and no one considered him in that spot before the year started.
As was said earlier, maybe they look to even give Navale a shot at the spot.
