I don't know but if Hodges is keen to stick around I doubt he's earning just an average NSW Cup wage.

I can't imagine he's earning much more than what they originally signed him up for. I also don't see that he's in much demand. All I can say for certain is that the next 12 months is going to be an interesting time for hookers at Manly.

If not he would chew up a huge chunk of the 400K second tier cap.

His contract money wont change (match payments will) but he will be on at least the min wage top 25 which is 85K iirc but could easily be more as we pinched him from the Cowboys.

Everyone seems to have Lussick somewhere in their 17 but for mine Starling is leaps and bounds ahead of him if fully fit. He has done nothing, zero, zilch, zip, sweet f a, bugger all in his time with Doesntmatta. Unless he shows some major form reversal in the trials I dont think he is much chance for the 17 especially if Lawrence starts the season fully fit as well.

Unfortunately given all of our recent signings, there's a high chance that these will be the 3 grades for Manly next year. I say unfortunately due to the first grade forward pack looking vulnerable and small compared to East's and Canterbury's forward packs. BTW, I put Tom Wright in the under 20's because Barrett and Randell would want him to develop his game, given he is only 18!!

Interesting having Demetriou as lock. May work. I liked him having a bit of space though but I guess he could play a Menzies type role and move amongst the centres in attack.

It seems like everyone forgets that Gutho was first cab off the rank in Rd 1 when Matai was injured. Surely if he recovers well enough and puts in the big ones in pre-season he's got to be in with a shot at the 17.
If anything his injury in that opening game shows how quickly a players season can change - has he lost ground to Tom Turbo? ( most likely yes ).
But with a new coach surely everyone's positions bar Snake, Killer, DCE, Myles and maybe Jake & Ferris are up for grabs so it should be interesting at pre-season training.

So who is an adventurous lad then Mango. I assume by 'Stuart' you mean Brett Stewart at 5/8, not Ricky. Not a bad thought. Demetriou may be a little premature, but I could see him pushing for bench position by mid year if he gets a little more conditioning and shows his wares well in NSW Cup.

For mine he's a waste of good money which could have been spent on a quality forward, Bozo looking after his old man I suppose but personally I would rather have seen that money spent chasing the likes of Taupau or Moa instead of a bloke with huge attitude problems and bad hands, should have left him at doesn'tmatta.

Sounds good in theory however
1. Taupau has not even been granted a release
2. When he was signed there was no sign either player would have even been available. What was the club to do? Hold out just "in case"
