Bunker concept works, everybody can see it was no penalty From the various camera angles. But it’s the bunker official that stuffs up, the consequences should be more than just being dropped 1 week. Not when the video is conclusive and everyone else sees his incorrect adjudication. I can accept the referee erring but not the bunker when they have technology to assist.
Do you concede that these numerous "errors" could be caused by bribes to the officials, or do you think that the sport is squeaky clean, despite the fact that there are new gambling companies forming every week, fuelled by the profits being made by gullible punters?

That game reminded me of 06/10/2013 and that's saying something. I wonder what Shame Hayne is doing now
Who knows, but I saw him with an NRL jacket on at one of our games recently at Brookie. I thought he was game to show his face and wondered why he was there.

Well at least the Tigers’ board, normally an inept bunch, are taking it up to V’Slickys and his offsider Abdon’t.

Unlike the GTPAPOT* clan and friends running the Sea Eagles these days. Des sends his regards.

*Take it away Ron Moody - ‘Got to pick a pocket or two’.

Well, I guess Payten no longer complains about calls going against $hit teams, now that the NRL have ushered his team into the protected echelon. Funny eh!

You could see in the presser that Payten knew his team had been gifted that win.

Imagine if the call was on the other foot and cowgirls lost.

Imagine that call in a grand final.

I'm betting that sometime this morning, Annesley will front the media as he usually does on Monday's.

About Sunday's game in Townsville, he'll say that in the NRL's opinion Ashley Klein in the bunker got it wrong and there was no escort and thus it shouldn't have been a penalty. Then he'll "not apologise" for the other stuff up of calling a captains challenge without a proper break in play. If what I am reading is correct, privately the NRL don't think Chris Butler got that wrong.....:wondering:

Then we'll see Butler stood down for a week or two while Klein will be stood down from the bunker for a week, but will still referee first grade.....

Annesley report, sorry the officials got it wrong

Yup, that's all he'll say with 1 or 2 officials being 'stood down' for a week.
Then he'll go on and on about how refs are only humans and players make mistakes as well.

I think coaches should get together with captains and have sessions regarding learning the rules so captains can at least quickly (and politely) ensure the ref isn't pulling something out of his hat.

Should they have to? No
will it help? Probably not.

The fact this ref made up a rule to get NQ across the line is incompetence at best, corruption at worst.
Until Annesley demands some real accountability, nothing will change. Until V'lameday and Alblurgh decide to fix the game instead of enjoying junkets and chanting four legs good, two legs better, nothing will change.

I would have liked to have seen the tigers capt'n telling the ref that there can't be a challenge.

IF only the NRL treated the two points as sacrosanct as the referees feelings, then results such as these can be reversed.

But yes, we can't hurt widdle weferees feewings or coaches get fined, played get suspended, but the nrl will allow a clear cut, after the siren mistake and dud the tigers two points.

The nhl has a bunker (and they warned the nrl about excessive use of it) and they don't screw it up (often).

Former Penrith halfback Greg Alexander in Fox Sports commentary labelled the decision was "an absolute shocker", adding Klein had made some "strange" decisions throughout the game.

-Time for an investigation, not some half assed apology,

I don’t think I’ve felt this bad about an opposition team getting reamed as much as yesterdays atrocities. You’ve got the captain playing his 300th game (not in a dinner suit, but as a prop).
Currently coming last. Going to Townsville to play the team coming second. You’ve got a halfback who is next to useless. The interim coach, and the boss of coaching both getting Covid. So you’ve got some young assistant in there doing his best. A win would’ve put them in 15th spot. Keeping them away from the spoon (for now anyway).
I can only hope at 71 Tim Sheens has still got some fire in the belly, and throws the 10 k on the table and goes to town on these clowns.(but we all know, it won’t make a scrap of difference).
I would’ve loved to have seen Tamou tell Butler you can’t challenge in that situation, and seens as times up, we won, you can get fked, we’re out of here.

If anyone wants a lesson in both splitting hairs and covering your organisation's mistakes, look no further than the nrl's reply to the tigers theft.

NRL spokesperson on Tigers debacle:

“The captain’s challenge was permissible in these circumstances ...

Although the referee had blown his whistle to stop the game after the last tackle was completed as time had expired, he had not yet called full-time."

When JAC scored his hattrick try (intercept) someone has thrown a water bottle or something at him.

wonder if "there will be an investigation"?

b/w the dogs 50mtr and '60' mtr line

(sorry for quoting own post)

Bottle throwing investigation:

While the patron is yet to be identified, officials believe the bottle was thrown into the air in celebration by a Canterbury fan who was cheering Addo-Carr’s hat-trick. The Bulldogs are now investigating the incident.

fmd... yeah if they expect us to believe that was a joyous throw into the air, then they'll be asking us to believe there was nothing untoward in the tigers v cowboys game!!

I can't see anything happening over the officiating in the Tigers/cowboys game. Ashley Klown is the latest pet official so he will be exonerated of any blame. Butler, while a very weak ref (who always looks like he has a cushion down his shirt) was merely going on the bunker recommendation. Nothing to see here

All year the refs have gone soft at the end of matches and copped the heat. Quite deserved in fact, for not having any conviction As results have been screwed with.

But the refs wanted to show the world they have a pair worth swinging, and swing em they did, . In one authorative act of defiance they struck a blow, and sent a message to all teams

they Refs and are now 80 minute players ,

With ashley kline in the vicinity , and a team of consultants putting together his big boy pants , they had assembled a crack squad ready to assert themselves as decision makers under pressure, and dispel any notion of semi final softness when the clock ticks past 70

all hail the stooges . Nyuk , Nyuk , whoooooop whooop whoooop

it was a good plan anyway and we just know that when annersley gets them all to referee detention and they point out this clusterfuch , at least 2 others are going to be heard saying

hold my beer

no body knows the rules anymore and thats no accident.the refs are really the illusion of the problem . Sorry stooges

"Although the referee had blown his whistle to stop the game after the last tackle was completed as time had expired, he had not yet called fulltime," a spokesman said.

What utter BS and rank dishonesty. Why did he blow his whistle? Not for a knock-on, not for a penalty. He blew his whistle because it was fulltime and when the Tiger player was tackled the game was over!!

Worst decision I can ever recall. And that's from a very big field!
