I think it may have something to do with his HIA history. I’d say with the current climate surrounding these issues we may be open to more long term legal ramifications if they tried to either sack him or rush him back prior to being ready. I’d be interested to see if anything Is announced prior to June 30.

He returned from that long head knock layoff and played finals last year, I thought he's had leg injuries this year?
Or maybe he got clobbered accidentally at training and has had more headaches?
Club has kept it all very hush hush, due to ... (no idea)

Had another knee cleanout, was said another month likely back in mid-April.

Which I guess means he should be good to go any time now.... but the injury updates do seem to be a little slow compared to when James Rahme was head physio at the club imo.

Yea, I think there’s more too it that we aren’t being advised of. Just speculation, but it sounds like it could be something like that

NRL Casualty ward has him returning in Round 14. I highly doubt this will occur, and if anything, he'll probably be back after the Round 16 bye I would suspect.

With a lot of size missing in our middle, our weakness without Croker is being exposed. He's a great tackler alongside Jake, puts people onto their backs. That is a very underrated ability that isn't reflected in stats.

Simpkin needs to be a bit more consistent but isn't a bad fill in. At this stage, I wouldn't have him as a permanent replacement, as his performance against the Sharks was pretty rubbish. Pretty sure Liddle is off-contract if we need a ready made replacement, should the Frog retire.

Take the Jake knock - it may have happened but I have not seen any updates relating to his health etc. I get the need to balance players privacy / a competitive advantage but a little information goes a long way

During the nhl playoffs the teams obv keep injuries to themselves but when a team gets knocked out they list all the injuries players have - its....its more interesting and entertaining than it should be (due to some of the descriptions).

They also publish their salaries (and have a draft) and the world seems to continue to turn. hint-nrl

If Croker returns. I would move Jake to prop. Jazz to 13. Croker starts and does the hard defense in the middle early then simpkin comes on when fatigue sets in

It's more my typing (on the phone) than what actually happens that might be confusing (sorry).

If a player is out of a regular game - we'll be told "Upper body injury", or "broken finger" etc....

during the playoffs - if a player can play (but is injured) then they obv keep that to themselves.

After the team gets knocked out, then mgt will list the players and injuries they had.

eg:

ge - sprained a heartlidge
Lsz - had 3 broken fingers
Sea8 - broken toe

edit: They also have a break-down day where basically all the players and coaches are back at home, cleaning out the lockers - and sit down and get interviewed by the media. that's a good thing I reckon.

Simpkin has been tackling like a machine. Not inconsistent at all. In fact our best 9 by a big margin. Better passing game than Croker, GKCT, Tevaga. Makes more meters than the other 3. I wouldn’t swap him for Liddell at all. Btw the whole team was rubbish against the Sharks. If anything he was one of our better players on the day. Not sure what you’ve been watching!
