Of course it would be best to have a specialist halfback in the seven, but if he leaves, well we have to re-arrange. 

I have Stewart at 6 as I can't see him ever having all his speed back, and he does have good ball playing skills, so could make the transition ala Lockyer. 

Also at some point we will bring Hopoate in at the back I think. 

Main concern is whether Snake's body could handle defending in the front line and making all those extra tackles.

Why dont they just back end the contract with an extra $150K to $200K, worry about it then (say 3 or 4 years time)  when hopefully the cap is icnreased post new TV deal

The issue is that Hodkinson has only played 8 or 9 fg games at the moment and the club is hesitant to gamble on paying $270k for an inexperienced half. 

If he continues to improve this year then no doubt the club would offer him that much at the end of the year.  The dogs offer is forcing them to make a decsion now when they would rather wait until he plays a few more FG games.

I think its worth throwing that much at him for next year alone, it gives him decent money, and lets him shop his options next year, when there is potential for him to go up in money. There is the risk that he may go backward but there is also the chance at the end of next year he could be on even more

TH would be mad to have committed to any deal as yet considering Manly are prepared to offer more subject to the cap increase. It would be an injustice to himself and more importantly to his manager, who gets a commission of whatever TH commands.

While there is still talk of increased offers I highly doubt any deal has been struck.

I used to know in Arko's era there was an agrement between the scum dogz and Manly that they wouldn't poach each others players, I guess thats gone out the window.

That was a gentleman's agreement between Bullfrog Moore and Arko. Different personalities and different era. The SuperLeague fiasco also killed any goodwill like that.
