That tackle on big Nelson by DCE showed there is some commitment in there somewhere.
Pretty sure he closed his eyes and hoped for the best (I'd do the same thing), but yes, it was a great tackle. And he's always had it in him. His one-on-one defence has never been a problem. It's his defensive reads - just being out of sync with the rest of the defence on his side of the field - that can cause issues. Even tonight Waddell had to clean up after Cherry in the late stages of the game when he rushed out of the line.

I wonder if the captain challenge on Grant was Brooks or him as that was the winning play.

Can anyone on the planet explain how such a great legs tackle from a half on a rampaging prop, that cut him down like a scythe, is deserving of a 6 again penalty?

The NRL is damn clueless around this rule. I loathe it.

That tackle should be rewarded, not penalised.

Wasn't the tackle.
The ball touched him after being played.

Get that, but point is no reward for the great tackle. Dce can’t just disappear.
Its a tuff one.
I'd also suggest that if the dummy half is declared to be milking with a passive player in the ruck, that player is then deemed to be now onside. Would stop it in its tracks.

I thought he was well enough out of the way, Nelson rolls the ball that hard (without foot contact most of the time) Grant’s a master at finding, milking and earning a penalty, he could of pick that ball up, but he let roll on to make contact with Daly, haven’t rewatched it, but I thought he also pushed down on Daly or jumped back into dummy to make contact, making it look worse than it was, he played for it, he plays for everything he can when it comes to bending the ref, he got the result he was after.

PS Great tackle Captain

I take your point and don’t necessarily disagree but a big part of winning the ruck is attacking in ways that allow the ball runner to get one on one with an isolated defender to either break the tackle or find the front and get up to play the ball quickly. So essentially, the Storm are rewarded for their attacking strategy that allowed NAS to get one on one, as opposed to being tackled by 2 or even 3 defenders. I also think the NRL are not interested in encouraging the legs tackle for fear of concussions; there are a lot of hips into heads and the potential for neck injuries is high. Again, not saying I agree with any of it, but think it might be an explanation.

Yeah as well as Koulas dbl movement. I might be wrong but doesn't it have to be grounded on or over the line for a dbl movement? Pretty sure he was short.

Has the team smoked the peace pipe? They looked much more connected on both the field and in the sheds. Best DCE game probably since his announcement - maybe he is about to make good on his commitment to do everything he can to lead us to a premiership.
