Pretty sure he closed his eyes and hoped for the best (I'd do the same thing), but yes, it was a great tackle. And he's always had it in him. His one-on-one defence has never been a problem. It's his defensive reads - just being out of sync with the rest of the defence on his side of the field - that can cause issues. Even tonight Waddell had to clean up after Cherry in the late stages of the game when he rushed out of the line. That tackle on big Nelson by DCE showed there is some commitment in there somewhere.

I wonder if the captain challenge on Grant was Brooks or him as that was the winning play.
Was payback for Shaun Johnson last year against the Wahs. Almost the same situation but us on the wrong side of the call.DCE said he didn’t see it, the boys told him. And Brooks was too busy seeing where the ball landed to notice. It looked like Burbo called it.
Wasn't the tackle. Can anyone on the planet explain how such a great legs tackle from a half on a rampaging prop, that cut him down like a scythe, is deserving of a 6 again penalty?
The NRL is damn clueless around this rule. I loathe it.
That tackle should be rewarded, not penalised.
Get that, but point is no reward for the great tackle. Dce can’t just disappear.Wasn't the tackle.
The ball touched him after being played.
Its a tuff one.Get that, but point is no reward for the great tackle. Dce can’t just disappear.

His one on one with Nelson was pretty good.I feel like DCE has his future settled and is now at peace with himself. Played very well last night and was more relaxed than usual in the press conference.
Happy with that
I take your point and don’t necessarily disagree but a big part of winning the ruck is attacking in ways that allow the ball runner to get one on one with an isolated defender to either break the tackle or find the front and get up to play the ball quickly. So essentially, the Storm are rewarded for their attacking strategy that allowed NAS to get one on one, as opposed to being tackled by 2 or even 3 defenders. I also think the NRL are not interested in encouraging the legs tackle for fear of concussions; there are a lot of hips into heads and the potential for neck injuries is high. Again, not saying I agree with any of it, but think it might be an explanation. Can anyone on the planet explain how such a great legs tackle from a half on a rampaging prop, that cut him down like a scythe, is deserving of a 6 again penalty?

Luckily, one of the Manly players brought it to the attention of DCE.That tackle on big Nelson by DCE showed there is some commitment in there somewhere.

Yeah as well as Koulas dbl movement. I might be wrong but doesn't it have to be grounded on or over the line for a dbl movement? Pretty sure he was short. Can anyone on the planet explain how such a great legs tackle from a half on a rampaging prop, that cut him down like a scythe, is deserving of a 6 again penalty?

Yeah the Dce tackle was a cracker. Apparently his knee is injuredYeah as well as Koulas dbl movement. I might be wrong but doesn't it have to be grounded on or over the line for a dbl movement? Pretty sure he was short.
