Yes and no, i see your point though.
Too many people who analyze the game get caught up with "spine this spine that" without much deeper thought to the performance needs of each individual club.----basically lost in the media analysis of "Melb's Spine" being the be all and end all of improved performance.
I wouldn't say Cronulla have a great spine but have improved in the sharpness, power and playing off the cuff from offloads areas. Cronulla really have outperformed themselves with limited resources exactly like Manly under Des.
Manly should focus on being able to sustain the intensity, directness, power and punch of their go forward for long periods by recruiting along these lines, with a more disciplined straight power approach. This will give Manly enough consistency in performance to reach the lower half of the eight and then the spine can execute the finishing touches off the back of this platform.
Yes Api's ball distribution is poor but his feature set will flourish behind more direct powerful punch---he is also a danger off second phase play through the middle, while Api is our hooker we need to shorten our passing play flat and direct at the line with good power and punch behind the ruck.
If the Dragons can maintain the intensity and directness of their game they should easily make the eight just by improving in these areas.
In short patches Manly do play simple and direct with power, the first set or two against Canberra showed easy good yardage off the back of this, even an injured Martin Taupau makes a big difference.
Manly just lack consistent back up in this area to continue the momentum, we lack the attacking structures(slowly improving) but have enough individual attacking potency to work off the back of punch and offloads for the time being.

Most of what you post is valid and well thought out, you wear your heart on your sleeve and thats a great thing, you give it you take it, and thats admirable. but taking free swings at long term posters who don't (or at least very rarely) stoop to crap like that is not needed.

Here is my much anticipated explanation you believe I "owe"you.Whatever that means.
My view is still the same.It is not rocket science. If we keep playing API at nine and give Hastings not much time in the role ( add to that losing a couple of games from poor goalkicking) and keep picking Green I think we will finish in the bottom 4 or 5 as current betting suggests.
Whether it is last or 12th I don't really care. It will be a waste of the obvious talent we have elsewhere in the team and the season will be extremely disappounting. More importantly it will not be good for the following years as those guys in my opinion are not long term options at all.
In other words my opinion has not changed at all in regard to glaring weaknesses in an otherwise talented team.To suggest this is totally negative is rubbish. I have highlighted the great talent I think we have in our team in many other posts.
And as a supporter for 40 years I hope I'm wrong.It is merely my opinion and frankly is worth no more than anyone else's on here. Every chance I'm wrong. So what. It is a discussion forum.
How is your opinion that we are going along just dandy any different to my opinion that we need to make changes. Seems to me that 26 dollars to win comp and a projected 12th by neutral judges hardly backs your view of eternal optimism but i have no problem with you posting your opinion and that is the essential difference between us. I don't require anyone to "owe " me an explanation for their thoughts.
But one thing I am certain of - I certainly don't need to ask your permission to post my opinion.

No need to change a winning team where everyone is doing their jobs and playing great. Goal kicking can improve but he's all we can use. Hastings won't play 80 minutes. So we stick with Walker. And the betting markets are in no way and implication of how a team is placed going forward.
Do you live with your parents in the basement and by looks of it have not found pornhub as you have too much time on your hands or which ever hand is free from tissues ?
