Totally agree what Lui did was much worse and he got off lightly.

It was the Sharks who sacked Carney. Remains to be seen if NRL will suspend/deregister him and if so how long.

Cowboys in contrast made the cynical call that the damage done by keeping Lui would be less than his value on the field.

Sad that a talented player has such trouble with the booze, but of course many people from all walks of life struggle with alcohol.

The problem is that alcohol companies pay mega-bucks in sponsorship, and they can't afford to have the game associated with mindless drunkenness. Which is ironic, in that alcohol is required for mindless drunkenness.
